I received my bill from my accountant last night. The total….. 8.25% of my refund! Considering he found at least 30 or 40% of my refund that I wouldn’t have, I consider it well worth it. There’s a reason that CPAs, Financial Planners, and Real Estate Agents exist… good ones really do provide added value and make you more money than they cost.

With that in mind, it’s on to the news!

J.D. over at Get Rich Slowly wrote a pretty scathing review of a book called the Secret. From his review it sounds pretty worthless from a financial side. Combining emotion with money (I just want more money so therefore I will have more) sounds all well and good, I have just never seen it work…

Ben at Money Smart Life is working on scaling up his Ebay business. I think it is interesting that he is planning on hiring people to increase volume, and I decided to increase per piece margin by moving to the antique mall and selling larger items.

Lazy Man has a great post on the top ten ways blogging has helped him. I can relate to several of them (increased focus in particular and being able to watch what I’m doing). The income generation isn’t really there, however the amount I have learned about web design and open source software has led me to another web platform that I should be launching soon that may help a little on the income side. So I would say that his #3 reason has been one of my largest benefits as well, Knowledge of programming and web design

Let’s get this week started!
